The Affordable Care Act Federal Upper Limits Have Been Updated

The updated Affordable Care Act Federal upper limits (FUL) calculated in accordance with the Medicaid Covered Outpatient Drug final rule with comment are now available on the Medicaid.gov website. States will have up to 30 days from the October 1, 2016 effective date to implement these updated FULs.

July 2016 Medicaid & CHIP Eligibility and Enrollment Report

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the July 2016 monthly report on state Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) eligibility and enrollment data. These data were reported by state Medicaid and CHIP agencies as part of the Medicaid and CHIP Performance Indicator process.

CMS Posts Responses to Questions about SNF QRP

CMS has posted a document that provides responses to some MDS-specific questions that were received during the Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP) training events.

Topics Include

  • MDS 3.0 Assessments relevant to the SNF QRP
  • Part A PPS Discharge Combinations
  • Section GG, and
  • Pressure Ulcer quality measure (QM)

CMS proposes new standards to strengthen the Marketplace for 2018

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today issued the proposed annual Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters for 2018, which proposes additional steps to strengthen the Health Insurance Marketplace. CMS is issuing this rule earlier in the calendar year in order to provide more certainty to the Marketplace as it continues to mature.

CMS releases second annual prescriber-level Medicare drug data public use files

CMS announced the second annual release of the Part D Prescriber Public Use File, a dataset that details information on the prescription drugs that were prescribed by individual physicians and other health care providers and paid for under the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program in 2014.

CMS announces next phase in largest-ever initiative to improve primary care in America

the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) opened the application period for practices to participate in the new nation-wide primary care model, Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+). CPC+ is a five-year primary care medical home model beginning January 2017 that will enable primary care practices to care for their patients the way they think will deliver the best outcomes and to pay them for achieving results and improving care. CPC+ is an opportunity for practices of diverse sizes, structures, and ownership who are interested in qualifying for the incentive payment for Advanced Alternative Payment Models through the proposed Quality Payment Program. CMS estimates that up to 5,000 primary care practices serving an estimated 3.5 million beneficiaries could participate in the model. See press release

CMS FS Final fiscal year 2017 payment and policy changes for Medicare Skilled Nursing Facilities

On July 29, 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule outlining fiscal year (FY) 2017 Medicare payment policies and rates for the Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System (SNF PPS), the SNF Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP), and the SNF Value-Based Purchasing (SNF VBP) Program.
